NESTAM is a project implemented by HLFPPT. Project services are being delivered to 923 KPs in 33 Mandals of the District. During the reporting period, BCC was carried out effectively by the CGs as well as through RBC shows that are being conducted regularly in all DICs across the intervention area. Through these RBC shows, Messages regarding STI Services, Condom promotion / Social Marketing of Condoms and importance & Vision of CBO were disseminated effectively to all the KPs.

This IEC material on CBO is being utilized during the meetings of the CBO at all levels. As far as STI services are concerned, there has been a substantial decrease in the STIs reported. On an average, around 450 KPs per every month had access to STI Clinics. There has been a drastically increase in the no. of KPs attending clinics for RMCs.

Nestam team with the help of Advocacy Committee members maintained good linkages with 15 ICTCs, 03 PPTCTs and 03 Care & Support centers in the District for Referral services. As part of RNTCP initiatives, 923 KPs have undergone verbal screening and among them No KP was suspected. We referred 787 KPs to VCTC / ICTC, PPTCT center, Govt. hospital for general health problems.

As far as the Syphilis tests for the KPs are concerned, We conducted 923 samples of Syphi - Check / EDTA tubes in the clinic and 0 KPs were found +ve in these tests. EQUAS study was conducted for 37 KPs in 1 static clinic,2 Combined Clinics and sent 37 SST & EDTA Tubes to DDRC – Hyderabad.

In addition to Free Condom Distribution that is being done vigorously across the intervention area, Social marketing of condoms through Community Guides was also promoted reasonably as per the requirements of the KPs.

Condom promotion exhibitions were also organized across the intervention area to sensitize the Community as well as the General population on usage of Condoms.

Special DIC activities like Tailoring, paper covers making, and Adda leaf plate making, were carried out in all the DICs and the finished products are being sold in the local markets. The profit margins gained while selling these products are being contributed for maintenance of DICs.

CBO Members and Advocacy Committee members organized Mandal level Convergence Forum Meetings in their respective locations. As a result of these efforts, 121 KPs in Nestam got Social entitlements like Ration Cards, Voter IDs, Widow and Old age pensions and Houses.

During this period, initiatives were taken to strengthen District level CBO. More CBs were provided to the executive body of the CBO on CBO management & Vision Building of the CBO. The CBO members took lead in implementing major events like National festivals.

BCC During the reporting period, BCC was carried out effectively by CGs. RBC shows that are being conducted regularly at all DICs across the intervention area helped the KPs to understand the importance of 6 messages. Intervention level RBC Committee has been instrumental in this regard.
